Alcohol and Youth


70% of Canadian youths reported drinking alcohol in 2012 and Canadian youth first consume alcohol at an average age of 16 years old.  Canadian Centre for Substance Abuse 

Alcohol remains the substance most commonly abused by teenagers.  Binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, driving while drunk, and early alcohol dependence in teens are concerns that we all face as parents.

Drug Free Kids Canada touches only lightly on the issue of alcohol abuse in teenagers as there are several organizations in Canada and North America that provide excellent information regarding teens and alcohol.
